New Pupils
We make every effort to ensure that all pupils are made to feel welcome, especially those transferring from primary to secondary school each autumn.
Very strong links exist between neighbourhood primary schools and the High School. Ian Sanders, one of our deputy heads, has a special responsibility for liaison with primary schools and attends regular meetings with primary and high school staff. In this way we ensure the fullest possible knowledge of the children and curriculum arrangements in each school throughout the year. For the past fifteen years all new pupils have attended a week’s residential course in North Wales, accompanied by primary and secondary school staff. This is an important step in their transfer from primary to secondary school; the course always takes place in June or July.
Primary school pupils also have opportunities to visit the High School on many occasions before they join us full time. We are keen to ensure that all pupils settle happily in their new school and always encourage prospective parents to contact us about any issues that concern them.
