Design and Technology (DT)
Here at Tarporley we believe in preparing pupils to participate in tomorrow’s technologies so that they may think and intervene creatively to improve quality of life. This subject encourages pupils to become autonomous and creative problem solvers, as individuals and members of a team. They must look for needs and opportunities and respond to them by developing ideas and making products and systems. they combine practical skills with an understanding of aesthetics, social, moral and environmental issues, function and industrial practices.
At Key Stage 3, students follow a foundation course in the specialist area of Product Design, Food Technology, Textiles Technology, Control and CAD/CAM. using our IPSAT Initiative (Improving Performance & Standards of Attainment in Technology) students are grouped depending on their learning styles. This enables them to maximise their technological capability at a crucial stage in their development.
