Information Comunication Technology (ICT)
Our ICT facilities are rapidly expanding and improving due to the monies available through our Specialist School status and this is providing many more opportunites for the pupils. We have 5 full suites of HP workstations and many smaller groups of workstations in other curriculum areas, all of which have high speed broadband Internet connection. Internet filtering systems are in place and are regulated both by ourselves and the LEA. There is also a wide range of ICT equipment available for use in lessons including interactive whiteboards, scanners, digital cameras and webcams.
ICT is delivered in discrete lessons to all pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 in mixed ability groups. All lessons are based on the ICT strand of the Key Stage 3 National Strategy which organises the delivery of the lessons around 3 main themes: “Finding things out”, “Developing ideas and making things happen” and “Exchanging and sharing information”.
By the end of Key Stage 3 it is expected that pupils will have become increasingly independent users of ICT, able to judge the quality of their work and be able to complete increasingly complex task
