Lockdown Study Provision for Current Year 13
March 20th was lockdown
2 weeks before Easter – teachers set online work only, via our central website and email. Work was shared digitally.
2 week Easter Holiday – homework was set digitally.
5 weeks Easter to Whit - online work was set for Sixth Form, with work submitted to teachers via email. Digital communication during this time, between teachers and students.
1 week after Whit – the same
8th June – lessons started for Sixth Form, via Microsoft Teams. Students had one course and double lesson per day, with two days free. This was very successful but students had less teacher contact than a normal timetable, with lots of work done remotely. (Normally students would have received 9 lessons per fortnight for each A Level subject).
15th June – there were still only two hours per week of subject lessons for Sixth Form during this week, but the timetable shifted so students were taught in lesson slots and not in two hour blocks each day.
29th June – three weeks of key stage 3 and key stage 5 online teaching following the normal timetable. For the remaining weeks until the summer break, students had their usual 9 lessons per fortnight for each A Level subject.
UCAS Preparation: Instead of the normal four day launch into UCAS, with university trips and guest speakers from University Outreach Teams, students had two full afternoons in school in July – 1.00-3.00pm, face-to-face with tutors and social distancing. Resources were issued, put onto our central area for access and UCAS application forms were filled in at home over summer, with guidance. Ordinarily, this process would have begun and been more collaborative over a period of days.
17th July – Summer break
