TARPORLEY SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING 2023 – THURSDAY 12th OCTOBER 6PM-8PM

Tarporley Sixth Form College welcomes you to join us, on Thursday 12th October, for our open evening. The evening will begin at 6pm and will end at 8pm. This will include a talk from the Headteacher, Mr Deakin and the Director of Sixth Form, Mrs McMillan. Students and Parents will have an opportunity to walk around A Level subject areas and speak to staff and current A level pupil. There will also be a chance to take in the unique atmosphere of the sixth form centre, including some tasting of the popular on-site café: ‘Sage’.

If you are interested and would like to express your interest in attending, please contact the school. We look forward to seeing you!

SIXTH FORM INFORMATION EVENING – 8th FEBRUARY 2024

This event falls at a time when it may be clearer what subjects a student is looking to take at A Level. We encourage you to join us to make the most of our A Level Subject Specialists. This is a great opportunity to find out more about each course and discuss the syllabus in more depth. This evening provides plenty of opportunities to ask bespoke questions, talk to Subject Teachers and current A level Students and discuss any individual requirements you may have. The Sixth Form Leadership Team will also be on hand to answer general and more specific enquires. You will also get a great sense of the wider impact Tarporley Sixth Form will have on the student and how it successfully differentiates itself from lower school.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Following the Sixth Form Information Evening in February, prospective Sixth Form students are invited to submit their application form via email, detailing their preferred A Level subjects. For any external applicants, who require any additional information or were unable to attend any of the information evenings, please do complete an application form and email it to the address below. A member of the Sixth Form Leadership Team will then contact you to discuss your application in more detail. Our application deadline is: FRIDAY 1st MARCH 2024.

REGISTRATION FOR SIXTH FORM COLLEGE – THURSDAY 22nd AUGUST 2024

Once your completed application has been received and providing that you have met our provisional entry requirements, a conditional offer of a place in the Sixth Form will be confirmed. We require 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including English and Maths, as a minimum. We strongly advise Grade 6 or above in subjects that students want to study at A-Level.  Obviously, A Levels are incredibly rigorous and some subjects recommend Grade 7 or above in order manage course demands confidently. Formal registration will take place on GCSE Results Day. Prospective students will have the opportunity to discuss their GCSE results with a member of the Sixth Form Leadership Team, during the morning and finalise their subject choices. If you are unavailable on this day, or if you have any concerns or questions relating to results day, please do contact us in advance so that we can make alternative arrangements or advise you accordingly.

SIXTH FORM INDUCTION CONWAY RESIDENTIAL – SEPTEMBER 2024

As part of our Sixth Form Induction Programme, students visit the Conway Centre for three days. This is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers in the natural environment in order to explore and develop a range of essential interpersonal and leadership skills. Students participate alongside their Tutor in a range of activities from water sports to public speaking. It is also an opportunity to mix socially, form new friendships and begin their preparations for their forthcoming studies. Our students come away with some great study tips, lots of useful information and of course plenty of memories. It is a chance to set high aspirations and look forward to the exciting two years ahead.
