A-LEVEL RESULTS 2024

2024 has proved to be an excellent year for Tarporley Sixth Form College, for a fantastic cohort. These students sat formal, external exams with complete syllabus content for the first time last summer. We are thrilled that 27% of students attained A or A*. 61% of all grades awarded are at the very highest level of A*- B and 86% of all grades are A*-C with an overall pass rate of 100%. We are delighted that once again, the majority of our students have been placed at their chosen university, or have secured apprenticeships or employment, post-16.

Once again, there have been many impressive individual achievements: Ella Gibson (A*, A*, A) will read Biomedical Science at University of Sheffield. Dylan Atkinson (A*, A, A) has been accepted at University of Sheffield to read Materials Science and Engineering, Calvin Chadwick (A*, A, A, A) will read Computer Games Application Development at Abertay University, Millie Bartlett (A*, A, A) will read Computer Science and Cybersecurity at University of Newcastle. Emily Pawlett (A*, A, A) will study Media and Communication at Loughborough University, Seth Cox received (Distinction*, A, A) and is deciding between university or an apprenticeship. Lily Diggle (A, A, A) will read Biochemistry at University of Durham and Beth Hardman (A*, A, B) will study English, Modern Languages and Cultures at University of Sheffield. Alice Lazarus (A*, A, B) will read International Relations at University of Birmingham and Jolie Nuttall (A, A, A) will read Biomedical Science at University of Manchester.

Jess Tillett (A*, A, B) will read French and English Literature at University of Edinburgh. Anastasia Kryvenko (A*, A, Merit) will read Graphic Design at University of Chester and Sean Bowkett (A, A, B) has secured a high-level Apprenticeship with SKY. Dan Willetts (A, A, B) will read German and History at University of Edinburgh. Annabel Thorp (A, A, B) will read Politics and Sociology at University of Newcastle.

Michael Voce (B, B, D) with a secured internship and Mason Bennett (B,B,C) studying Biological Sciences at University of Liverpool, have both made exceptional academic progress against their targets. Congratulations to our amazing students who will be joining the NHS workforce as Physiotherapists, Paramedics and Midwives: Xanthe Houston, Alessia Hendy, Beth Kinsey and Saskia McGhie. There were many more notable performances from students who will be taking up places at university and the workforce this year to study a range of courses including Textile Design, Sport and Exercise Science, Law, Economics, Chemistry, International Business Management, Geography and Interior Design.

“As always, results day has been one of high emotion and expectation for us here at college”, said Tina McMillan, Director of Sixth Form, “This has been another exceptional year group who have developed both academically and personally during their time here at Tarporley. Watching our students grow and develop as young adults is nothing short of a privilege. The majority of our students do choose to go to university, however we have many students who have secured Apprenticeships, employment and gap year opportunities and we also celebrate these achievements. Today is just reward for all their hard work, supported by their families and the dedicated staff at the school. We really will miss all of our Year 13s and wish them the very best for their exciting futures.”

Tarporley Sixth Form is open to all students with suitable GCSE grades. Although many courses are full, there are some places available for the new academic year; students can register for courses on Thursday 22nd August.

Tarporley Sixth Form College is also open to students who have not previously attended the school. Students can contact the Sixth Form on 01829 732558 for more information or email 6thFormPastoral@TarporleyHigh.co.uk
